her fantasy of independence is based on claims that decisions are best made locally. Not to mention that Scexit will cause much more economic harm to Scotland than Brexit ever will.

Sandy Stewart

It’s good to see a UK leader building bridges and good relationships with Europe. It bodes well for an independent Scotland.

Robert Sim

Who is financing this treasonous anti-uk junket to the enemy camp? It is outwith Holyrood and the Scottish executive’s remit, and the taxpayer should not be footing the bill.

Ronnie Way No one has ever asked the people of Scotland whether we should seek to join an EU that does not include RUK. No one can tell us what the T&CS would be, how much it would cost us, how long it would take or what we’d do in the meantime.

Paul Holyrood

Scotland’s position is the same as the rest of the UK, we are now outside the EU. [Sturgeon] knows that she cannot meet the EU membership criteria and that the EU only will talk if it has Westminster approval.

David Arthur

The European Policy Centre is nothing to do with the EU and just happens to meet in Brussels. This jolly is a waste of time and oxygen and carbon emissions, nothing more than an attempt by Nicola to look like she is doing something she is not.

Roastin Someone really does need to remind her of her job description. Foreign affairs is a reserved matter. She needs to stick to her remit of devolved responsibility. The budget, for instance, for most governments is one of the most important times of the year, but despite losing her Finance Minister, she just swans off. The finances of Scotland are just not that important to her.

kmcn This is breathtaking, what the heck does she think she’s doing? Even if there weren’t a hundred more pressing issues for her to deal with at home she still would have no cause or remit to be doing this. I sincerely hope she gets arrested for projecting that love heart thing on Brexit night!

The European Commission has distanced itself from an illumination paid for by the SNP which saw a pro-eu message projected onto its HQ in Brussels. The stunt, which saw the words “Scotland” and “Europe” linked by a love heart projected in the heart of the Belgian capital, was not sanctioned by local authorities.

Oops, the light’s just gone out for Scotland.

Andrew Murdoch I seem to recall the SNP stated the “EU have left lights on for us...” Now it turns out they created it themselves, I really am not surprised.

Dave Smith That’s all the creaking EU needs. Scotland rejoining as a net beneficiary with an eyewatering deficit and run by a bunch of petulant juvenile delinquent attention seekers.

Lemonpiper GB Oh the irony of this news breaking while she’s poncing around Brussels trying to look relevant and pretending she’s locked in important talks with somebody who matters.

Paul Holyrood

Brian Wilson called Glasgow’s streets a mess.

People Make Glasgow, unfortunately Glasgow no longer makes people. Everybody needs to be a stakeholder, not just rely on someone else cleaning up the mess. Will be interesting to see what they do with the homeless during COP26.

John Williams If Edinburgh is anything to go by they will be shipping them in for COP26.
