RUGBY LEAGUE

Underbank Rangers, rugby league’s oldest club, have landed a money-spinning tie against Bradford Bulls in the fourth round of the Coral Challenge Cup.

The Huddersfield amateur club, who were formed in 1884, endured a 400-mile round trip for their 30-8 win over League 1 club West Wales Raiders in Llanelli on Sunday but will face a short trip to Dewsbury, the Bulls’ temporary home, for their giantslaying attempt in the next round. Bradford, coached by two-time Challenge Cup winner John Kear, enjoyed the last of their five Cup triumphs in 2003 and beat Leeds in the fifth round at Odsal in 2019. The British Army, who are also in the fourth round for the first time, will face Rochdale Hornets or York Acorn – one of four third-round ties postponed on Sunday because of Storm Ciara.

There are five all-championship clashes, including one between former Wembley winners Sheffield Eagles and Halifax. The Super League clubs start entering the competition at the fifth-round stage in March.

Fourth-round ties, to be played over the weekend of 22-23 February, are: Rochdale Hornets or York Acorn v British Army, Whitehaven v Dewsbury, North Wales Crusaders v Hunslet, Sheffield Eagles v Halifax, Workington or West Bowling v Doncaster, Bradford v Underbank Rangers, Featherstone v Barrow or London Skolars, London Broncos v York, Swinton v Leigh Miners Rangers, Leigh Centurions v Batley, Siddal v Keighley or Newcastle Thunder, Widnes v Oldham.
