Another windy and chilly day with a mixture of sunny spells and showers which will bring snow over the hills accompanied by a risk of drifting snow and blizzard conditions. Snow possible to lower levels. Gale force westerly winds. OUTLOOK

Tomorrow will be another day of sunny spells and showers, these largely in the west and will be wintry over high ground. It will turn drier and brighter later. Thursday will bring rain, however it will be largely dry in the north.

Caithness, Grampians, Strathspey, Moray Firth, Inverness, Aberdeenshire, Lowlands:

Mainly bright and dry with spells of sunshine and just the small threat of a snow shower. One or two evening showers as well. A brisk westerly wind. Max temp 3-6C (37-43F). Tonight, clear spells. Min temp 1-4C (34-39F).

Western Isles, North-west Highlands, Skye, Glen Mor, Argyll:

Mostly cloudy and grey with wintry showers, many heavy with hail and thunder possible during the afternoon. A gale force westerly wind. Max temp 3-6C (37-43F). Tonight, heavy showers. Min temp 2-5C (36-41F).

The Borders, the Lothians including Perth and Stirling areas, Fife, Angus including Dundee:

Bright with some sunshine, but also showers, wintry in nature. Further wintry showers after dark.
