Mccracken wants more of the aggression his side showed against Hearts

- By CRAIG P STEWART

League 1 title-chasers Falkirk have the chance to pull to within a point of leaders Raith Rovers tonight when they play their game in hand against visitors East Fife.

The original meeting with themethilmenwaspostponed as the Bairns were facing Hearts in the Scottish Cup and co-managerdavidmccracken wants the Falkirk Stadium side to show their powers of recovery after losing to the Tynecastle outfit.

Mccracken said: “We lost 1-0 to Hearts so we are looking to bounce back by winning and moving closer to Raith. We played well and whilst some people would argue that it is good to be out of the cup as we can concentrate on the league, it is still gutting to have been knocked out.

“We also want to return to winning ways in the league. We were disappointed with the result and performance in our last league game at Stranraer where we drew 1-1.

“There was some consolation in that Raith went there last weekend and secured the same result but we will go out looking for the full points from this one.”

“We played with a lot of aggression against Hearts and we pressed them well throughout the game and we will look to do that to East Fife as well.”

Ben Hall returns to the Bairns squad after missing out against Hearts as he was cup-tied.

A win for East Fife would reignite hopes of a title bid by Darren Young’s side. However, the East Fife manager is concentrating only on getting the three points.

Young said: “Things are tight in the top half of the table and I want us to get a result that strengthens our place in the top four.

“If we are still in the hunt for the title in the last couple of weeks of the season that would be terrific. However, at the moment winning at Falkirk is taking up all my thoughts.

“The two games between us this season have finished goalless but we have had chances in them both.

“What we have to do in this game is to defend as strongly but take any chances that come our way.”

“I will make a few changes from the team that secured a 1-0 win over Peterhead at the weekend to be as fresh as possible, as Falkirk had Saturday off.”

Lewis Baker returns to Young’s squad after being ill at the weekend.
