Gardens gripes

-

Council chiefs in Edinburgh have vowed to press ahead with a controversial £25 million revamp of Princes Street Gardens after the departure of its figurehead – insisting the city will only be able to afford “patchwork” improvements to the park in future without the help of private finance.

Brilliant. It’s about time the gardens had a revamp – they are under-used. No doubt the people scared of change will pipe up, however. Let the moaning begin.

Lawrence Target

Last time I checked the gardens (the clue is in the name) are for public enjoyment and not an entertainment zone for corporate greed.

Ian Munro Get your priorities right why don’t you? Roads, pavements, crossings required, more care for the elderly, community centres needing janitors re -instated so they can open at night. The list goes on!

Dorothy Maitland

Get the £25 million spent on our roads – they are a disgrace, I don’t think there is a street, road, avenue or crescent in Edinburgh without a pothole.

Willie Anderson

Edinburgh Council has pressed ahead with loads of stuff nobody needs nor wants costing millions – they are living in a fantasy land. Try living out here in the real world with traffic chaos, services cut and tax going up.

James Whitelaw

Will no one think of the tourists!

Alan Little

Nobody does anything for nothing. These people who are investing in this will want pay back one way or another.

Margaret Cummings

£25 million which will go well over budget. Yet they are increasing the council tax 4.79 per cent.
