Edinburgh MP Joanna Cherry has been accused of political self-indulgence by announcing she wants to quit Westminste­r for Holyrood amid claims the resulting by-election could cost nearly £250,000. Joanna Cherry would be an asset in Holyrood. And I’d be happy if all MPS left Westminste­r to it and all business with the UK was transacted through the Scottish government.

Westminste­r is the past, Holyrood is the future. Cherry clearly recognises this.

I think we can all agree your presence in Westminste­r will never achieve anything as we all know Westminste­r is hugely overwhelmi­ngly biased towards England. Come home to Holyrood and win us independen­ce because only with independen­ce will we be able to truly govern Scotland properly.
