Ideological battle lines are drawn in the Joanna Cherry v Angus Robertson contest over the SNP’S future.

I thought ‘Anguish’ was pretty pathetic at Westminster! However, he was miles better than Blackford. But that really does not say much for him or the SNP. Scraping the bottom of the barrel now as the whole party lacks talent.

It seems strange that a current and an EX-SNP MP are anxious to contest this seat. Is this because they know Nicola Sturgeon’s days are numbered and they are vying for the future control of the SNP at Holyrood? What is going to come out of the woodwork next?

Veronica Hunter I do hope they split the vote and a Conservative gets in that would be priceless.

I’m loving the way Cherry is wooing the Zoomers by suggesting indyref2 could go ahead without a Section 30 in her bid to steal Sturgeon’s slipping crown.

Wayne Morris Close the Holyrood trough; waste of money in a failing country.

This local council nonsense has to stop, shut it down or do it properly... bunch of bairns!

I thought that she committed herself to the constituents of Edinburgh West less than three months ago? If nothing else it proves some folk just live in a political bubble.

Keith Geddes

Whoever gets in should remember not all in Scotland vote SNP and if you’re going to say SNP speaks for Scotland, can I say you don’t. Having a big mouth has worked for SNP... not any more.

Margaret Mckay People are starting to get heartily fed up by the nats.

Ian Smith Strange, the recent election results said different.
