Cove extend lead at the top as chasers City draw

Cove Rangers took another step closer to marking their inaugural season in the SPFL by clinching the League 2 title with a 3-0 defeat of Stenhousem­uir Ochilview.

Mitch Megginson slotted in the opener on 33 minutes and Rory Mcallister had the three points heading north before the break when he prodded home. Megginson netted a third from the penalty spot after the break.

Cove boss Paul Hartley said: “It was a very strong and discipline­d performanc­e. We are in control of things and that is a good position to be in. However, nothing has been decided. We need to keep on doing what we have been doing.”

Rabin Omar curled the visitors in front from 20 yards after 70 seconds but within a minute Daniel Scally nodded in an equaliser before Kane Hester hit the winner via the underside of the bar from six yards.
