@sean_antrim said: “Great, this summer is going to be so boring, it’s like a massive Big Brother for us all.”

@hamzaoulghaz tweeted: “Can they also designate one host country and stop with this 12 European cities nonsense?”

@Footballfan_uk said: “The European clubs were going to boycott the 2021 club world cup anyway.”

@kateig said: “Play it in tandem with the women’s. Have posters everywhere with Houghton and Kane standing back to back with the tag line being ‘Hear Us Roar.”

@pudpudboogie said: “Well done ... gives the leagues a chance to finish season across June... April and May are write offs”

@Eamonnscott said: “The entire year is pretty much a write off at this point. I can’t imagine anything significant

The UK advised all nationals against all but essential travel overseas at least for next 30 days, effective immediately. Meanwhile, people were still calling for schools to close.

@melelloyd said: “Anyone who has flown out of this country since school halfterm in February, other than for absolutely essential reasons, is frankly mad & took a huge risk. We knew this was coming. We all knew.”

@jordandias tweeted: “What does that mean for those abroad? Get back now or the UK will shut the borders? My father is in India with his seriously ill mother: does he need to get back now or what? We need answers from @Dominicraab.”

@Robrawlins4 said: “Have I missed about repatriation of those abroad? Many stories of those that can’t get back.”

@Highlandtiger05 said: “All these people saying close the schools, you haven’t thought it through. Who will look after the kids? If the parents have to take time off work, that’s less nurses, shops shut as no retail workers, no lorry drivers so no food in shops, no bin men, no one to repair broken boiler.”
