They are front line as well, although working for minimum wage.

Greta Kaceviciute Where is the bus union? Shocking that bus drivers are not protected. Shame on Lothian Buses and Edinburgh council, get your fingers out and protect your staff.

Sadat Ali

There are way too many buses needlessly roaming the city completely empty.

Kyle Danko

Parking attendants are still on the streets after pay and display suspended – they’ve been told they are “key workers”.

Teresa Whyte

Front line council staff are worth protecting too. My wife is going in to man the front desk at East Lothian Council this morning and she had no protection either!

Graeme Ogilvie

Many key workers don’t have masks etc, which is ridiculous. The masks must, however, be of the right quality, otherwise they aren’t worth buying. Bus drivers are better placed with their screens than some workers who have to operate public counters without screens, for example.

David Baird

All these people working for all of us, no matter what their job, should be protected. They are doing it for us all.

David Parry-jones

Shout out for AA patrols too, please! Still have to go out to breakdowns and can do up to ten jobs in one shift – no masks provided, only gloves and limited hand sanitiser.

Susan Whyte

All frontline people – shops, buses, bin men, taxi drivers, anyone who has to work – should have protection.

Moira Cowan

As a prison officer, we are also still waiting on hand sanitiser for our workplace.

Melanie Tucker Mckenzie

You can get N95s (masks with respirator that block out 95% of airborne germs) online for as little as a few quid. Even 3M ones for £3-£4.

Christopher Law

Train crew! Drivers and guards who also have families.

Nicola Fotheringham What about people in the supermarkets? They are there for everyone else to be able to put food on the table and facing hundreds of people every day.

Krzysztof Fiodor Fiedorowicz Personal protective equipment for all key workers.

There will be priority coronavirus testing for family members of NHS staff as NHS boards close hospitals to visitors.

Been saying this needs to happen for weeks now. I’m having to phone my boss today as my son has a persistent cough. It’s probably nothing, but guidelines state I should isolate with him for 14 days to be safe... 14 potentially wasted days when I’m needed at my work, instead of a day or two for tests to come back.

Nikki Kenickie Anyone who’s still out there working should be a priority, those are the ones risking themselves everyday. One thing about this virus is I’ve noticed how selfish folk can be.

Jennifer Watson

What about private care home staff, they need testing too, they are dealing with vulnerable folk?

Karen Mcdermid Gorrie

They need to be testing everyone. I have asthma and COPD and am staying in, but my hubby and son have to go to work and it scares me they may get it’

Eve Farrell What about other key workers that are facing the public at all times? I work in a supermarket and feel very vulnerable. We are frontline too.

Debra Davies

What about care workers and other essential workers? We are all still having to go out and work. Sorry, I meant we don’t have to we need to!
