Bet the architect of the old St James Centre said the same, along with the new St James Centre, and along with the architect who does the replacement in the years to come. Stick this modernisation of the city.

I too go to the Filmhouse frequently but I see no need for a building that size. It’ll shut all the other picture houses. It’s also really ugly.

Could this space not be turned into a small garden/ park area? Give us some more green space.

Daniel Parker Looks like an eyesore, but what do I know, I’m only a resident!

Brian Rudden Waste of money, but what else is new?

Piers Morgan has heavily criticised the government after the UK’S daily death toll from the virus approached 1,000, saying serious questions must be asked about the UK’S preparedness for the crisis. 67 million population in the UK. How many die each day of road accidents, child poverty and hunger, Aids etc etc? I can see why, to a non specialist or expert, 1,000 seems a lot. However, perhaps Piers could study a little epidemiology of even social policy and statistics before opening his mouth and adding to the hysteria.

Of course – who cannot agree? Have we forgotten “herd immunity’”and the laissez faire approach at the start of all this? Now is maybe not the time for those questions but at some point they should be asked.

Iain Morrison

The Government should be questioned to find out what could have been better prepared or how it could be improved on? If you don’t question but only follow “just because” then these deaths from the coronavirus could be and probably will be repeated in the future. Viruses adapt. History shows you that but it’s like a lot of things – it will never happen to us.
