What’s the last piece of clothing you bought?

I saw a few bolo ties cutting around Paris Fashion Week recently on Instagram so I picked one up cheap on-line. It treads a fine line between Mexican gothic and red-neck formalwear but I kind of like it.

What are you addicted to buying?

Obviously this is the sort of thing you should be getting regularly anyway but I really like buying underwear. There’s so much more choice for men than there used to be so it’s way easier to find something that looks good.

Best ever bargain?

I got a wicked trench coat from Zara for about £40, reduced from £120. It has bright yellow cuffs so I can see why it didn’t fly out of the door but I love it.

Who has great style?

One of my favourite things is when you see someone in the street nail a look and the little choices they make in getting there.

Name your favourite high street shop.

H&M. I like that you can go in and see a bunch of solid pieces but also find a sneaky wee leopard-print shirt hidden in a corner.

Any fashion disasters you’d care to tell us about?

Early Noughties – hair straighteners and lots of black and red stripes all at once. I’m having flashbacks.

What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe?

I have a muted red Cameron kilt that I absolutely love. I used to run a kilt shop in Edinburgh and I got it there. I can give you a wee exclusive on that subject too. As a former professional I’m here to tell you, kilts are actually just skirts* y’know? And here’s nothing wrong with that. *ducks for cover ■
