Scotland will start rather cloudy with the odd shower in eastern areas. However, further west it is likely to remain bright with some longer spells of sunshine. There will be showers in eastern England with sunny spells elsewhere .

OUTLOOK

Much of Scotland will have plenty of dry, sunny weather with sunny spells developing, but thicker cloud for the N Isles. A band of light rain will move into parts of the south of England and south Wales. Sunny spells elsewhere.

Shetland, Orkney:

Caithness, Grampians, Strathspey, Moray Firth, Inverness, Aberdeenshire, Lowlands:

It will be largely dry with some bright spells and variable amounts of cloud with a potential isolated shower initially. A gentle north-easterly wind. Max temp 9-12C (48-54F). Tonight, cloudy. Min temp 0-2C (32-36F).

Western Isles, North-west Highlands, Skye, Glen Mor, Argyll:

It will be dry with a good deal of sunshine through the day, as well as a few patches of cloud. There will be a gentle north-easterly breeze. Max temp 10-14C (50-57F). Tonight, clear spells. Min temp 3-6C (37-43F).

The Borders, the Lothians including Perth and Stirling areas, Fife, Angus including Dundee:

Following any early isolated showers, it will be dry and bright, with patchy cloud cover and spells of sunshine. There will be a gentle north-easterly wind. Max temp 10-13C (50-55F). Tonight, clear spells. Min temp 1-4C (34-39F).

Glasgow area, Lanarkshire, Firth of Clyde, Ayrshire, Galloway, Dumfriesshire:
