The whole point of lockdown was to protect NHS from being overwhelmed, not to prevent us getting the virus!

Elaine Carlin

This is obvious! Scottish Government look after schools and education under devolved powers, not UK. Hence why our schools closed prior to the rest of UK. UK looks after reserved powers.

Lorraine Stachini

It will be interesting to see how the Scottish Government maintain social distancing with overcrowded classrooms.

Second wave will come and it will be much worse, and all because people are greedy to make money again and in a hurry to do things again. But we can all do this as soon as we’re sure its gone! If you don’t feel it’s right to send your kids back, then don’t. I wouldn’t trust any government’s advice as far as I could throw them.

Make your own decisions folks.

How many people commenting have been seriously affected or seen someone put into a coma and have to learn to walk again and speak when you touch a button in your throat? People and businesses already are going against government advice. It’s greed. Being selfemployed myself I could really use some income right now but my family’s health comes first. Let’s see what happens in two weeks. The experts sure do know a lot more than Joe Bloggs on Facebook.

Sarah Law

I think this is good, but my only worry is, wouldn’t the Border need to be closed if Scotland is going to act differently from rest of the UK?

Shona Kelly

In the Primary school here an average class is 33. So much for 25! Let’s hope we wait at least another month. There are so many people not doing lockdown!

Lynne Fraser

Everyone seems desperate to reopen again. Yesterday in the UK there were another 4,342 confirmed positive Covid-19 cases in the UK.

If we continue to push for reopening of schools, Mcdonald’s, Starbucks etc anytime soon then a second wave is inevitable. Chill out people, stay in, stay safe and this will go away eventually or they will find a vaccine. May take months or years. So be it.

Marc Biagioni

Just as ever, she tries to make cheap political points by just saying no. I wonder if Scotland really needs its own government. This one can’t even prevent a coronavirusinfected Prince Charles from visiting.

Ralph Trop

I really hope she doesn’t bow to pressure from England. We want to stay safe even if we have to stay in longer. Still deaths in the 100s – no way should we be relaxing the lockdown.

Liz Crosbie

And when the schools closed, they advised they would be closed until August.

Judith Robertson

She sits in on the same meetings as the UK government. I can’t really see there being much difference in the two. Our school terms are different, that’s about it. I don’t think it is going to be business as usual in school. There is still a lot to be thought about and certainly not rushed.

Lindsay Jarvis

I won’t be sending my kids to school till there’s a vaccine. Best to be safe than sorry.

Zoe Robertson

I don’t care what Nicola or Boris say about when it’s safe for my kids to go back to school. I will decide when I feel it’s safe to send my kids back, not either of them.

Debs Campbell

When they do decide to open schools again, why not have half the classes in the morning and the other half in the afternoon? It would help a wee bit in social distancing and work better for the teachers.
