down? It would be foolish to just go crazy, but I think we are all wise enough to not take risks where we might create a problem.

Callum Munro Non essential travel. Make your own coffee and keep others safe.

Jennifer Linton Everyone is missing their normal treats but the queues are just ridiculous. We drove past the Edinburgh one to see the queue and they had stewards to manage it as the traffic was that bad. Normal shoppers were having to queue to get in and out of the car park for the supermarket – just greed from the companies.

Ashley Dee Coffee that you can easily make in your own house or buy from one of the wee kiosks already in open shops is definitely not an essential. The traffic queues are horrendous, allowing for non-essential cars on the roads, and more possible car accidents putting more pressure on the NHS. Thank god she said it!

For goodness sake, this virus has not gone away, we are simply managing the infected so folk can get a bed and a ventilator if needed. Look at Skye. They thought they were safe. Sad, but timings wise the Easter visitors, the locals and MP were complaining about could have transferred the virus. I just hope Cal Mac keeps the other islands as safe as they can.

Marion Garland

Absolutely not. This is why Scotland is not suffering as much as the rest of the UK.

The work Nicola has been doing is beyond criticism.

Queuing for coffee? Are you mad? What possesses you to queue for coffee? I queued once but I was disappointed – they asked me what type of coffee and I said Nescafé!

Garry Sprott

If you don’t want people going out for these things, don’t allow them to open. If you deem them essential you’ll just have to live with people doing this. It will happen more often once Mcdonald’s and KFC etc start to open up.

Lynne Pryde She can’t do right for doing wrong. She is doing an amazing job of managing a horrific situation. Yeah, she might make mistakes, we all do, we’re human but no, going for a drive-thru coffee is not essential. Yeah, it’s nice, a change, kinda normal if you like, but not essential.

Julie Donaldson No. I love coffee but why queue 40 minutes for a Costa coffee (overpriced, coffee from mass produced cheap beans and chain shops with no atmosphere) under normal circumstances. Just now it’s not essential and people with more time on their hands could easily make their own coffee – so much nicer.

Caroline Crawford It’s places that are essential, like dentist and opticians, places people need, that should be open, not coffee and tea.

Shelagh Tait Don’t see the need for fast food places to be open. They are a luxury item.

Lesley Mackinnon

No, for once I agree with Nicola Sturgeon. Ridiculous behaviour by adults who should know better. Traffic disruption for a coffee! Explain that to the kids you’re not letting out the house.

Eileen Martin

No, coffee is non-essential. In fact all drive-thrus should remain closed as it encourages people to leave the house. Why are we putting more people at risk for a non-essential service?

Katy Bell

Time the lockdown was phased out. And for those that want us locked up forever, get over it. We do need to come out if it eventually. This will happen initially for everything for the first few days.

John Monaghan It was the first time I have seen her a bit rattled, but hell, you can understand the frustration she feels when no green light has been given for the ease up of lockdown.
