a slower rate. For the record, I have followed the rules but I won’t if this continues.

Sandra Aitken Concerning? That statement will soon get them off the beach. If this is the weak leadership they are gonna show if Scotland ever gets independence, forget it. This whole total lockdown and social distancing has been an absolute farce from the beginning. The police should put a wee bit tape round the fence, that should solve the problem.

Peter Anderson

The police are instructed by Sturgeon to observe but not penalise, her fault! The same “offenders” will be out clapping the NHS at 8pm on Thursdays. Irony.

Michael Ryan

My issue with this is not the health of those who went to the beach, if they want to risk their lives then so be it, it is for their neighbours and family because I very much doubt that they observe the rules any other day of the week!

Grace Davidson This won’t happen too much as we don’t get enough sunny days. But on the serious side, people should be responsible and stay at a safe distance. Everyone would like a day at the beach but maybe the time is not right at the moment, unless you live in that area. The longer people do this, the longer it’s going to take for us all to see family that we’ve not seen or been able to cuddle. Think about it.

Helen Gillespie Face facts, you are never going to stop people going out and doing as they wish. I’m not condoning this, but people will do as they please regardless, no matter how many pics or moaning about it is done. People will decide for themselves, end of story.

Lee Chiappa

He must be pretty thick if he thought people would not go out when the sun shines.

Robert Harper

When they allow a building site at the Western General Hospital to keep going, what do they expect to happen? Why was this building site allowed to stay open when they said that all construction must shut down? It’s a complete Muppet show led by Muppets.

John Jordan I fail to believe that all the people on the prom and beach were from the surrounding area. We’re allowed out for essentials and exercise...sitting on the beach constitutes neither!

Arlene Mackenzie Massive well done to everyone who showed up at the beach. Good to know there’s more people out there who don’t believe in all the fear-feeding.

David Napier From my experience, the vast majority of folk are being extremely sensible. If they were not, why was no-one charged? We all want rid of the virus, but being a girn is doing now’t to help. Relatively speaking, only a handful of people in Portobello would have the virus. Would these girners not be better advised to ask Nicola why the track and test is not up and running in Scotland? That would have stopped the handful of folk going to Porty, or anywhere else. There is a child-like climate of fear here in

Scotland, that does not exist in other parts of the world.

Tommy Taylor

Concerning! What an utter joke statement. So not disgraceful, irresponsible, selfish, very dangerous, breaking the law? More a softly softly, tippy tappy statement. Don’t want to offend any voters, but hey Swinney, keep taking the £150k salary we pay you.

Pam Brown

We are free to do as we please. Do not live in fear, and do not listen to anything either the Scottish Government or the UK government has to say about your freedoms.

Peter Symington

Because of these stupid people, we will continue on lockdown for three more weeks.

Catherine Surrel Keep the old people in, everybody else gets to go to work. Life is risk, stick in the house is no risk?

William Hunter
