Marsh Commercial, the UK insurance broker and risk adviser, has appointed a new development leader for the area that encompasses the firm’s Edinburgh and Glasgow operations.

Chris Brophy, who becomes development leader for the central regions, joins from

Barclays’ business banking division where he was a business relationship manager. He will report into Catherine Kelly, senior vice president, based in Glasgow.

Jelf Clark Thomson recently rebranded to Marsh Commercial in Scotland, where the business has some 350 staff across ten offices, from Orkney to Glasgow.

The firm said its Edinburgh team had also been strengthened with the hire of Suzanne Marshall, who joined as an account executive last month. Marshall will report into Alan Douglas, branch director.

Brophy said: “I am pleased to have joined such a wellrespected business at a time of growth in Scotland. It is great to join an organisation with an excellent reputation across the region.

“I look forward to understanding the needs of our clients and prospects during this difficult time, and helping to provide solutions wherever possible. I have already been impressed with the attitude, knowledge, and expertise of my new colleagues and look forward to working more closely with them.”

Ben Bailey, chief executive Scotland and Northern Ireland,

added: “In spite of the current business pressures, I am very conscious that many of our clients are grappling with the effects of the current pandemic and so it is important we continue investing in high quality people who can provide even more support during this uncertain period.”

The firm has been “proactively” helping businesses in all sectors amid the crisis.
