#DOMINICCUMMINGS

Calls are growing for Boris Johnson’s aide Dominic Cummings toresignafter he travelled from London to Durham while the country was under lockdown.

@craig_wrighty wondered: “Why does he always run around like he’s got stolen goods in his bag?”

@Mikesimms68 said: “Did Johnson sanction Cummings’ trips? If so, Cummings goes, Johnson goes.”

A cynical @maxjthinks reckoned: “The government explained to the police that ‘there’s nothing to see here’.”

@Dennism52847023 agreed: “One sets the rules. “One doesn’t have to obey them. What’s happening to this country? They don’t even try to hide it.” A shocked @Benjamin Butterworth tweeted: “This is stunning. Dominic Cummings travelled across the country to Durham to stay in another home ‘while symptomatic’ with coronavirus.

“Prof Ferguson and Scottish CMO resigned for much less.”

@Trevors53362313 felt that: “‘All advisors are equal, some are more equal than others’. And some are more honourable than others... but not Cummings.” @steviejpm insisted: “He’s got to go. He’s blatantly broken the rules and now some people will have the attitude ‘if it’s ok for him then it’s ok for us’ and this will potentially cause more deaths – indefensible.”

#HONGKONG

Tear gas has been fired in Hong Kong as hundreds of protesters ignored social distancing to march against Beijing’s planned national security legislation for the region.

@rosegarg9 commented: “China has learned nothing from the pandemic. So many lives lost the world over and humans still think land and power and money is more valuable than life. Very sad to see this.”

@Virusvacation tweeted: “The pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong are nothing short of inspiring. I propose an international vigil on the date of the events at Tiananmen Square.”

@bosman_meyer queried: “Is there any human rights for Hong Kong people? Apparently China’s regime is immune to any human rights and can propose any inhuman law whenever they want. UN is inept.”

@horrobin_ joseph concluded: “China has a lot to answer for, including coronavirus.”
