#WORLDOCEANDAY
Observed each year on 8 June, World Oceans Day aims to raise awareness of the important role that the world’s oceans play in everyday life
@bjd_odisha tweeted: “Oceans are an essential part of our ecosystem. Let’s pledge to work together for protection of our oceans and marine life.”
@loveessexuk warned: “Did you know a truckload of plastic enters our oceans every single minute? Pledge today and find out how you can start reducing your use of plastics.”
@soaringfizz pointed out: “People ask: Why should I care about the oceans? Because the ocean is the cornerstone of the Earth’s life support system. It holds most of life on Earth. 97 per cent of Earth’s water is there. It’s the blue heart of the planet – we should take care of our heart.”
@Raymondmessage agreed: “The bad news with regard to Earth’s oceans just keeps on getting worse. These are ‘our’ oceans and it’s well past time that we need to take responsibility for their good health. All creatures, including humans, are ultimately dependent upon them. “
@Awesomecareerbk added: “It’s never too early to show children what they could be when they grow up. World Ocean Day is the perfect day to inspire future marine biologists, oceanographers and ocean conservation scientists.”
#14-DAYQUARANTINE
Ryanair chief executive Michael O’leary warns long-haul flights will be devastated by the new 14-day quarantine.
@tired_traveller commented: “You may not like him or his airline but on this he’s absolutely spot-on. The quarantine is a political stunt that will badly backfire on a UK economy that’s already looking dangerously fragile while Boris again flirts with no-deal Brexit.”
@paulwoolmore opined: “I agree with the right to peacefully demonstrate but currently mass gatherings are a greater risk of spreading the virus than incoming passengers, so why allow them to continue but basically stop people entering the country, another example of a ridiculous policy!”
@robmo1961 tweeted: “Too little, too late, to be frank. We have the highest Covid-19 rates, Europe’s rates are falling and yet we choose to impose a 14-day quarantine on visitors.”
