Stars of Normal People lined up to give masterclass as part of television festival
The stars of the hit romantic drama Normal People are to get top billing at this year’s Edinburgh TV Festival.
Daisy Edgar-jones and Paul Mescal have won huge acclaimed for their performances in the BBC adaptation of Sally Rooney’s best-selling novel.
The story of the evolving relationship between two school friends as they navigate their way though university life has been one of the biggest TV hits during lockdown.
The pair will be in conversation with Oscar-winning director Lenny Abrahamson and executive producer Ed Guiney during the TV’S first online-only event in August.
Normal People helped ensure the BBC iplayer had its busiest ever day in May.

Clockwise from main, Scotsman Sessions artists Robert Robertson, John Michie, Sam Mctrusty; Jane Atkins, Emma Pollock on Perry, who scored a lockdown ratings hit with his Art Club programme on Channel 4, will host an exclusive session for the TV festival.
Other highlights of the festival, which revealed first details of its special events today, include a session on Sitting in Limbo, a new BBC drama on the Windrush scandal, in which writer Stephen S Thompson will discuss how it was based on his brother Anthony’s own experiences.
A spokeswoman for the festival said: “At a time when the TV community is facing enormous challenges, the festival will look at how the industry rebuilds itself, and what kind of industry we want it to be.”
