New Edinburgh brand, packaging and digital design consultancy unveiled

- By EMMA NEWLANDS

Amazon Marketplace experts Stephen Somers and Robert Rickey have joined forces with Edinburgh-based creative director Jonny Kermode to launch a new design house based in the city.

The Fifth House is a brand, packaging and digital design consultancy with clients from across the UK, in sectors such as retail, construction, finance, hospitality and charity.

Rickey and Somers are the founders of Marketplace Superheroes, an online community that they say has taught thousands worldwide how to build a sustainable, global empire on the Amazon Marketplace platform.

Their experience in marketing, coaching and business development will be “central” to the design house’s planned growth, including expansion into new markets. The pair have also made a “significant” financial investment into the business, where they will hold new positions as operations director and MD respectively.

Creative director Jonny Kermode is known for his work at Elmwood and, more recently, Designworks. He said: “It’s long been a goal to build my own design consultancy, and with Stephen and Rob on board it feels like the right move at the right time… we’re really positive about the potential for growth and to support our clients as they rebuild and relaunch their businesses. Telling their stories in a compelling, effective way will be crucial and we’re excited to get going.” The firm’s portfolio includes household names such as Lyca Mobile, money.co.uk and even Love Island star Adam Collard. Rickey said: “Stephen and I will bring the strategic focus and experience to help support our clients in really drilling down into what will make their business better… we’re looking forward to some exciting times ahead.”
