Guidance for lockdown easing
While food-related farming and supply chain businesses have been working throughout the coronavirus crisis, guidance was yesterday released by the Scottish Government on other outdoor farming activity set to restart under the phased easing of lockdown.
The guidance for farmers and crofters to help them work safely and take all necessary measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 was released yesterday by the Scottish Government as a summary of sectorspecific information and rules relevant to farming, crofting and related agricultural businesses.
The guidance, which is available on the SGRPID website, includes information on: how to support safe working on farms and crofts; hygiene measures; farm and croft inspections; keeping employees safe and operating farm shops.
“Throughout the pandemic, farmers and crofters across the country have worked safely to produce food, supported by a wide range of agricultural businesses,” said Scotland’s rural economy secretary Fergus Ewing. “Over the coming weeks and months, it is vital that everyone in the agricultural industry continues to take all necessary measures to prevent the spread of the virus and keep people safe.
“This guidance sets out what is expected of everyone in the weeks ahead as we cautiously and carefully ease out of lockdown.
“The coronavirus crisis has changed the way many of us work and will have a lasting impact on businesses going forward, so it is important that we work together to support farmers, crofters, and their families and employees.
“This guidance brings together all the latest rules and information and will be updated regularly.”
