I don’t think I am alone in finding it intrusive for companies to be selling ‘rainbow’ products to celebrate ‘Pride Month’.

I do not usually mind advertising but take exception to the rainbow being used by the LGBT+ movement.

The Rainbow is a sacred symbol of religion dating back to the Flood and God’s Covenant with Noah and a symbol of empathy and support to our NHS in the Covid-19 pandemic.

Groups would gain more respect by adopting a symbol that is unique to their own movement rather than trying to take advantage of widely recognised symbols meaningful to others.

Needless to say I have removed my name and address from the offending firm with their ‘rainbow advertising’ and will do likewise with any other firm that is careless with their symbolism and advertising.

most of the organisations I have worked with have actively sought an identity which makes them stand out. In ascribing this description pejoratively to the SNP alone, Mr Bone may have unwittingly highlighted the reality of the Scottish political scene as the Labour Party and the Liberal Democrats have no perceptible identity that sets them apart. The Conservatives do have a particular identity, but it’s one that the majority of the electorate don’t seem to find appealing.

As the SNP have cornered the market and picked all the low-hanging fruit, there is no longer a level playing field in the Scottish political scene and it’s time for a heads-up for the opposition parties. They need to engage in some gap analysis and some thinking outside the box, if they are to drill down to the core of the problem. This, in conjunction with joined-up thinking would allow them to push the envelope and arrive at the helicopter view to achieve a strategic fit which would let them to touch base with the electorate.

The Conservatives could work on some blue sky thinking, but even if they were able to tick all the boxes and were all singing from the same hymn sheet, it’s doubtful that they would arrive at a win-win situation in Scotland.
