for a couple of weeks up in Scotland!

James Melvin Tough luck, eh. Locals benefit in absolutely no way other than to be inconvenienced. Maybe they should have appreciated those on the doorstep more!

Kirsty Leslie Then they adapt to what can be done. Everything is going to be different. I don’t think the festivals should try to strive for what’s happened before.

Laura Walker Glad we’re getting a year off. I can drive into my street without a 20-minute wait at a barrier and a debate with a polis or worse – an imported security person who has no clue.

Tommy Moore

Tell them to bolt. They took the profit for years and never donated to help. Why should we bail them out?

Sandra Divitt

Don’t kid yourselves. Amazing Adam and

Calamity Day will bend over backwards for them and we’ll pay for it.

Alan Inverarity

They don’t share with the community and they don’t provide for the locals. Their profits are centralised and their work contracts are minimum and limited – and beer prices go up every year.

David Jeffrey

All those millions generated every year!

Paul Burgess

No sympathy. There are bigger things to worry about.

Daniel Piggins

Some good news finally.

Donarudo Rustle

Don’t give them anything.

Liz Bee

For the last two decades, Edinburgh’s festivals have become bigger, more commercialised and have made a big, fat profit for their promoters, very little of which has stayed in the city to benefit residents. But now these same exploiters want a handout of public money. That’s not how capitalism is supposed to work. If you privatise the profits, then you can’t socialise your losses, so get lost, you chancers!

Lucien Romano Tough. I hope they get good funding but don’t see any reason for extra Covid funding. They are just trying it on.

Big brands confirmed for the new £1 billion St James Centre in Edinburgh opening this year include Lego, Five Guys and Miele

When the Lego store opens the doors for the first time, people will be queuing up for blocks!

Leesyl Thompson

Most moving from city centre locations into this new shopping centre?

Andrew Lough

Few decent shops, but feels like just another Ocean Terminal with all these random shops.

Xjasmine RW There’s a Joe Brown’s opening up! Also a cinema that serves wine and pizza to your seat.

Jordane Hewat This is a bunch of chain stores, what gives!

Steven Carrion

A good mix.

Sharron Dunn Greenhorn

Covid-19 is predicted to cost £159 per person as Edinburgh’s finances suffer; Edinburgh City Council is set to lose £83.8 million due to coronavirus.

Some of this is due to the national funding formula but a large part is due to decisions taken at a local level. Surely Scottish Government cannot be expected to mop up the mess for less than prudent local decisions. It wouldn’t be fair on other authorities who’ve run a tight ship.

Andy Unsworth

Get the money back they have loaned to other councils. Why should the people of Edinburgh suffer for the mistakes of the council?

Atholl Cunningham

That’s what happens when you are too reliant on tourists. Maybe if the people who live here are thought about more you wouldn’t be in this mess
