#FACEMASKS

The First Minister said face coverings would become mandatory in shops from 10 July and children 11 or under will not have to physically distance with other people when outdoors from today.

@akfraser2k16 said: “So basically no different to how my neighbours have been acting since the start of lockdown? Same with how few people I see on buses with face masks.”

@carolrich36 said: “What about children who live in a house with a grandparent that is shielding, can that child now go and visit his gran and gets hugs.”

@Barrywiwrites replied: “Think you need to use your own judgement on that one.”

@Christianhay8 joked: “What happens if one identifies as an 11 year old child? Surely one’s truth would have to be respected. Unless...”

@matthew7502 asked “So we won’t make masks mandatory two months ago when hundreds of people were dying and thousands were being infected everyday. But we’ll make masks mandatory, today, when almost no one is dying from Covid every day. Why weren’t they mandatory 2/3 months ago? Giant facepalm.” @indybairn said: “If we’d locked down harder and faster we’d be even further on the road to elimination than we already are.”

@Mcgrotythomas said: “Just as the numbers of deaths and people hospitalised have reduced to near zero she wants to ramp-up protective measures. It’s like that weird hybrid animal in Doctor Dolittle, the pushmi-pullyu. This is all political posturing.”

@thebreagle replied: “Restrictions are being relaxed, more shops opening, more people going out to the shops, risk is elevated. It’s not difficult to understand, but you stick with your ‘political posturing’ angle.”

@Mrsblinkle said: “Good for you Scotland. At least some of the British isles is in a position to lead.”

@Wmacewan said: “Utter farce. Face masks need to be properly face fitted and compliance with these rules means wearers have to be clean shaven. No beard, no moustache or the mask is an inappropriate measure. Masks that have been worn have to be continually replaced. Made-up nonsense, Nicola.”

@Macd said: “Quite right. Stop all those supermarket deliveries as well .... ”
