my fingers all over my facial cavities, and washing them often.

Andy Holmes As soon as some people leave the house, common sense disappears.

I’ve been following the rule but I think most don’t even bother staying one metre apart. They make no effort to keep a distance when walking past, for example.

Keith Somerville

The 2m rule should stay for now. Look at what’s happening elsewhere. Don’t want to undo the good work.

Jenny Gilchrist

I like the 2m rule. There are certain people I call space invaders in this world and I’m enjoying being able to tell them to back off without feeling bad about saying so.

Debra Davies

It should stay until people realise this isn’t going away. But I doubt it will, they just do as they please.

Patricia Hutt

I think some people will keep doing it for their own peace of mind. Others will just do their own thing.

Lynda Christie I think the 2m rule should stay in place just now, some people are getting closer than 2m as it is and I think if you make it 1m people will just forget about it completely. Also, face coverings should stay, people that can wear them should wear them in shops and on public transport.

Yvonne Craik So many people are being ultra cautious about precautions. Sadly they do not seem to realise that there is a balance to be struck, as always in life. We cannot go on like this, and it may already be too late to stop the economy imploding. The economy – that thing that keeps the food chain going and the pensions being paid and little things like that. I am with those who wash their hands, stay in if unwell, don’t get too close etc but get on with life, knowing that there is no alternative.

Tommy Taylor Doesn’t really matter. You could set it at 15 metres and people wouldn’t follow it. This whole lockdown/ pandemic has relied on common sense from people, and while the majority have followed rules, there will always be a select few who think they know better.

John Whalen

It has to change in time for August and the children going back to school. Also, I think it should go away for family you see regularly.

Stephanie Ng

I don’t think social distancing can continue much longer. Human beings instinctively want to mix together closely, we are social beings. It certainly can’t work in pubs, restaurants, live entertainment venues and in any mass gatherings, especially concerts, so very difficult decisions are going to have to be made very soon and it is all down to risk assessment. Most people at the moment do their best and try to maintain a distance when they can, but in many instances it is just not possible. Eventually people are going to have to make the risk assessment for themselves and act accordingly. We cannot go on social distancing indefinitely. I think the Scottish Government know they are going to have to at least reduce social distancing to 1m for the entertainment, leisure and tourist industries to survive in Scotland.

John Mcgeachie What we think is neither here not there. It’s a judgement call based on an assessment of the risk of transmission of Covid and weighing that against economic issues. Which is based on the science, not based on what people want to do.

Keir Liddle Stay, it’s been nice to actually get your personal space. Instead of people pushing past you, they now stop and think.

Sylvia Fleming Cases are going back up in places because they have eased them in England, the rules should stay for now unless we want to follow their path.
