Professional services giant KPMG has appointed three new directors at its operations north of the Border.

The “big four” accountancy firm said the promotions within its tax and audit teams were part of a wider commitment to “invest in talent and innovation” in Scotland, as well as support clients through the economic challenges created by the Covid pandemic.

In Edinburgh, Craig Barrowman has been appointed director in the tax and legal team. He is joined by tax director Ruth Wallace in Glasgow and Michelle Smarsh who is promoted to audit director in Aberdeen.

Catherine Burnet, senior partner and head of KPMG in Scotland, said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has created profound challenges for our clients and the wider economy, which means our support and expertise is more needed than ever before.

“The latest round of promotions reinforces our commitment to invest in talent.”
