Inter plan to ruin Shakhtar passing game

-

Defender Diego Godin says Inter Milan have studied Shakhtar Donetsk carefully ahead of tonight’s Europa League semi-final and plan to “annihilate” their passing.

Godin said: “We watched a lot of videos, including their quarter-final with Basel.

“They like to keep the ball, play it to feet, push the fullbacks forward. They have a lot of quality players, so we have to press them and annihilate their passing circuits, then we can hurt them with our own style,” Godin told Sport Mediaset. The Uruguayan has struggled for playing time in his debut Serie A season, but is a regular in Europe.

He added: “It was a challenge for me to understand what [boss] Antonio Conte wanted. It’s totally different to the way I played and moved for 15-20 years. I had to change the way I looked at football, and I’ve learned so much from the coach.”
