Postponed Scottish Open is moved forward to first week in October
The Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open has a new date this year for the second time.
Originally due to be held in July until the coronavirus hit, it was rescheduled for 8-11 October as part of a revamped fixture list.
It has now been moved forward a week to 1-4 October, filling the slot that became available following the decision to call off this year’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth has also been shunted forward by a week to now fill the Scottish Open slot.
It means the two Rolex Series events now follow the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at Galgorm Castle in Northern Ireland on 24-27 September.
That establishes a second UK Swing of the year on the circuit following the current six-event run, which reaches its conclusion at The Belfry next week.
It also continues the Tour’s newly-established strategy of staging consecutive tournaments in geographical clusters wherever possible.
In a statement, the European Tour said: “The Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open and the BMW PGA
Championship will be subject to the European Tour’s health strategy based on respective government guidelines in Scotland and in England.
“Further updates on all aspects of the tournaments will be made in due course.”
Austrian Bernd Wiesberger won last year’s ASI Scottish Open at the same venue, beating Frenchman Benjamin Hebert in a play-off after both finished with 22-under-par aggregates.
