It’s all ironic
Donald Lewis (Letters, 18 August) joins Jim Houston (14 August) in picking up on a phrase I used, saying in the context of a political-induced regrading of the recent exam results, that this constituted “a renaissance for Scottish education”.
Being as gentle as possible, all I can say is that these two gentlemen must have been absent from their Higher English class the day they taught irony.
