Mea culpa

I must apologise to Gill Turner (Letters, 19 August) for failing to spot the irony in her comments on a “renaissance” in Scottish education. I foolishly thought that she was crediting the SNP government with a rebirth of education in our country under their tenure, an idea that I now realise is as preposterous as it is comical.
