Man charged over Inverness death

A man has been charged with culpable homicide in connection with a death in Inverness.

Hamish Towler, 65, is accused of killing 55-year-old John Birrell.

The arrest comes after police were called to a disturbance in Leachkin Hill Road on Monday at 6pm.

Emergency services were called to attend the incident but Mr Birrell was pronounced dead at the scene.

Towler submitted no plea at Inverness Sheriff Court on Wednesday and was released on bail.
