You’re on to the Royal Mile (overpriced), George Street (pretentious) or Rose Street (rammed usually). That’s why folk like to eat and drink on their feet. But let the CEC wreck that too. Xmas or winter festivals are the same everywhere, if you don’t have these relaxed options then bye bye to visitors.

John Monaghan

Good idea. Food at these things is always the same old overpriced rubbish anyway.

Lorraine Blyth

It’s all about money, nothing about Christmas or tradition. It’s about the council, Underbelly and profits.

David Russell

The stalls will be taking money from the shops, which need the sales. It’s not as if the stallholders are from Scotland, most of them are from the Continent where they will be taking the money back.

Anne Amato Like, local businesses haven’t taken enough of a hit without bringing in competitors this year.

Sarahjane Mclaren Use local business – better for the city.

Owain James Young Ban them permanently. There’s lots of businesses that can cater for people trying to enjoy Christmas. The Christmas thing at Princes Street, profits go to an English company. Stop the whole market and all the other crap and let people enjoy the area and the time of year.

Stuart Young Good, I kept thinking that the local venues have suffered enough.

Government examines plans for ‘hands-free’ driving on British roads by next year.

How will it cope with potholes, roadworks and closures?

Lucien Romano

This is not fully automated driving. It purely keeps a car in its lane and a safe distance from the vehicle in front, reacting faster than any human could. It’s a safety system. It’s not laziness or a fix for bad driving.

Steve Scotland

Good idea, but needs a mind set change. Younger drivers would accept it more easily than older generation drivers. Personally I can’t wait for full driverless vehicles.

Norman Douglas Harvey

If done correctly it could mean fewer accidents.

Luke Samuels

Cars will soon be like planes – just stick the autopilot on!

Jamie Gordon

And when it goes wrong?

Dougie Turner

More control that’s all – no thanks!

A super yacht once owned by Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich pictured in Firth of Forth near Edinburgh.

Hope your cameraman was well hidden. A guy I know had a launch of security set on him for daring to point a camera at it.

Jamie Solley I saw it myself a few years ago when it was at St Peter’s Port, Guernsey – it is very big and flashy!

Jenny Mollison I saw his current one three weeks ago berthed just off Dubrovnik. Seemingly it’s there for three months every year.

Alan Brien

What is he doing –secret meeting with Johnson to pass on Putin’s instructions? Just a joke, in case I get inundated with indignant posters!

David Brown

Yeah, I’m having it looked over, sort of an MOT before I take it out to the Bahamas next month.

John Jordan

Absolutely obscene that anyone can afford this... but it is a beaut all the same.

Sandy Wilson

I’ve been awaiting this delivery from Amazon for a while.

Thomas Cameron I saw it last week near Fort George in the Moray Firth.
