Bryce extends stay as Wilson looks to solve full-back issue

-

Danny Wilson has moved to plug Glasgow’s full-back crisis by extending Glenn Bryce’s contract to the end of the year.

Warriors have been looking for a permanent solution to their problem 15 jersey since Scotland captain Stuart Hogg departed for Exeter last summer.

Ruaridh Jackson retired in May while winger Tommy Seymour also filled in at the centre of the back three last term without ever looking truly comfortable. Huw Jones has been tipped to take on the role when Wilson’s team return from their Covid-19 lockdown against Edinburgh tomorrow.

But former Scotland sevens player Bryce will offer a more natural option having agreed to stay for the rest of the 2019-20 campaign – which for now includes the upcoming double header with Edinburgh – and the first half of next season.

Bryce, who rejoined the club last summer having previously enjoyed a twoyear stint at Scotstoun from 2014 to 2016, said: “It’s really good to be able to extend my stay at the club. Obviously with everything that’s happened with Covid-19, it’s brilliant to be preparing for a game once again. We’re dying to get back into matches, and I can’t wait to get out on the field with the boys if I’m selected.”
