Timeline for what can now reopen and when

24 August

Bingo halls, casinos, snooker halls and amusement arcades can reopen with physical distancing and hygiene measures in place.

Some outdoor live events are permitted with physical distancing, and contact sports outside can resume. Learner drivers can resume lessons.

31 August

Gyms, swimming pools and indoor sports courts can reopen, subject to guidance. This is two weeks earlier than the previous date. Indoor activities for children are also now allowed.

14 September

The Scottish Government proposes to allow sports stadiums to reopen with “strict physical distancing”. It also hopes to allow indoor cultural sites, such as theatres and live music premises, to start operating again.

Wedding and civil partnershi­p receptions, as well as funeral wakes, will be able to take place with more attendees than at present, although numbers will remain restricted.

No date

A date has not been set for the reopening of nonessenti­al call centres and offices.
