Protests in Israel ahead of deadline
Thousands of demonstrators filled the streets near the official residence of Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem at the weekend, as summer-long protests against Israel’s leader maintained their momentum.
Over the summer, thousands of Israelis have taken to the streets, calling for him to resign, protesting at his handling of the coronavirus crisis and saying he should not remain in office while on trial for corruption charges.
The protest came days before tomorrow’s deadline for the government to agree on a budget or trigger new elections.
