Burness Paull adds quartet of partners to bolster top ranks

Hazel Moffat, who was previously at DLA Piper, will lead a new public law and regulatory division. Regularly representi­ng national government­s and regulatory bodies as well as many major Scottish, UK and internatio­nal businesses, Moffat is featured in the Legal 500’s Hall of Fame for public sector, parliament­ary and public affairs work. Two of the new additions, David Davidson and Dawn Reoch, arrive from CMS. Ashley Mawby, a specialist in high value and complex profession­al liability disputes, joins from BTO. Chairman Peter Lawson pointed to new challenges emerging as the economic and regulatory consequenc­es take shape, with sweeping new regulation­s likely to be introduced across a raft of industries to futureproo­f businesses against future outbreaks – increasing demand for specific skill sets.

● Michelle Meldrum will take over the role of chief executive at Berwickshi­re Housing Associatio­n when Helen Forsyth retires at the end of October. Meldrum will join after recently leaving Gentoo Group in the north-east of England, having been its executive director of operations since 2015. Her previous role, from 2012 to 2015, was as managing director of Gentoo Operations. Michelle has worked in social housing in Sunderland since 1996, initially at the local authority then at Sunderland Housing Group after the stock transfer, which later rebranded to Gentoo Group in 2007. BHA will welcome Meldrum at the end of October following Forsyth’s retirement. Both Meldrum and Forsyth will be working closely in advance of this to ensure a smooth transition for the associatio­n’s customers, stakeholde­rs and staff.

● Training provider Survivex has appointed a new general manager to oversee day-to-day operations and support key training management service clients. Jamie Purves comes to Survivex from drilling contractor Valaris, where he was regional training and competency manager responsibl­e for personnel working in the North Sea and Norway regions. Having worked in training and competency for almost 20 years, Purves has extensive experience of the sector. Initially starting out as an instructor, he quickly progressed his career into management, working for Woodowned M&O Global as training manager.
