Tributes for teacher who died on climbing trip

A science teacher at a top private school died in a climbing tragedy.

Owain Bristow, head of biology at Robert Gordon’s College in Aberdeen, was killed on Friday when he fell during a climbing trip.

RNLI and Coastguard were sent out to search for him at the Bullers of Buchan, Peterhead.

Pupils and staff at the top fee-paying school were in shock with lessons cancelled, although it has remained open.

A spokesman for Robert Gordon’s College said: “The Robert Gordon’s community is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic climbing accident near Bullers of Buchan, Peterhead involving Mr Owain Bristow, head of biology on Friday evening.

“The college is coming to terms with this devastatin­g news and he will be greatly missed by us all.”
