Huge number of families eating out to help out

-

Members of the public made use of the government’s Eat Out scheme at Brel in Glasgow.

Since the start of the month, the UK Government has subsidised a 50 per cent discount of up to £10 a head on meals and non-alcoholic drink sat participating establishments on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, in a bid to encourage the public to eat out.

The Eat Out to Help Out scheme has proved very popular, with 64 million meals claimed thus far.

Pub and hospitality leaders have called on the Treasury to extend the scheme beyond August.
