Paying their respects: Firefighte­rs honour personnel who d ied in dead ly Glasgow warehouse blaze in 1972

Members of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service gathered at Glasgow Necropolis yesterday to leave tributes at a memorial dedicated to firemen from the city killed in an industrial blaze almost 50 years ago. In what was one of the greatest losses for the UK fire services during peacetime, seven Glasgow Fire Service personnel tragically perished on Friday 25 August 1972 after a warehouse caught fire at Kilbirnie Street in the Port Eglinton area in the south side of the city.
