Protests peaceful after US gun arrest

Protests in Kenosha over t h e p o l i c e s h o o t i n g o f Ja c o b B l a ke we r e mos tly peaceful following the a r r e s t o f a 1 7- y e a r - o l d p o l i c e a d mi r e r a c c u s e d of killing t wo people and wounding a third during a chaotic night of demonstrat­ions and unrest.

A s o f e a r l y y e s t e r d a y, t h e r e w e r e n o g r o u p s patrolling with long guns as there were during prev i o u s n i g h t s o f p r o t e s t s over the Sunday shooting of Mr Blake, who was left paralysed. Protesters also stayed away from a courthouse that had b een the site of stand-offs with law enforcemen­t.

Kyle Rittenhous­e, from Antioch, Illinois, was taken into custody on Wednesday in Illinois on suspicion of first-degree intentiona­l homicide in shootings late Tuesday that were largely captured on mobile phone video.
