Great Dane Brown into quarters

Hamish Brown of Denmark has progressed to the quarter- finals of the Amateur Championship.

Scotland’s Chloe Goadby lost a nailbiting last- 16 tie to England’s duo Emily Toy on a dramatic day at the 117th Women’s Amateur Championship. Toy dug deep to win the 18th after Goadby found the water off the tee. The pair halved the 19th with birdies, before Toy delivered another to claim a memorable success at the 20th at West Lancashire. Toy then booked her place in the semi- finals by beating Lithuania’s Gilė Bitė Starkutė.

Hannah Darling’s hopes ended at the last- 16 stage, with the Scot losing to Aline Krauter. The German will play Toy in the last four. The other semi is between England’s Annabell Fuller and Italy’s Emile Alba Paltrinieri.
