PICK OF THE WEEK
DANCE Field – Something For The Future Now
Holyrood Park, tomorrow Since the coronavirus lockdown rules began to ease, a group of dancers have been gathering each Sunday in Holyrood Park, working with Curious Seed, the performance company behind shows including And the Birds Did Sing, Found, and Chalk About. Tomorrow there is an afternoon of “dancing together without touching” ( pictured above) to which we are invited to watch from a safe distance. In a month that keeps promising live events – from Arthur Smith’s walking tours to a new show by Grid Iron – and then snatching them away again, this is a rare opportunity to see a theatrical event, live, in real time. Find out more about the project online at: www.facebook.com/curiousseeddance/
THEATRE Traverse festival programme
www. traverse. co. uk
The Traverse’s festival programme has long been the most important theatre showcase at the Fringe, despite strong competition from Summerhall in recent years, so its arrival in what would usually be the festival’s final week feels a bit like the cavalry coming over the mountain. The whole programme, from Declan to a series of new Breakfast Plays, is online until next week and you can watch everything by purchasing a festival pass. See our reviews on pages 8- 9.
EVENT Edinburgh Culture Summit
www.culturesummit.com There’s lots to see at the Culture Summit’s ongoing online programme, including Hollywood actor David Strathairn performing an homage to a Polish war hero, and the Trojan Women Project, in which Syrian refugees find parallels with their own lives in a classic play by Euripides.
