Interesting to hear Jim Mccoll, one of Ms Sturgeon’s economic advisers, accuse the SNP government of a “cover up” regarding the C al Mac ferry enquiry. All because former finance secretary Derek Mackay has not been called to give evidence.

This is very strange given the situation that Mr Mackay (once touted as a future First Minister !) lent £45 million to the yard whilst seemingly knowing it was a failing venture. Current figures estimate the cost of the two ferries to be at least £30m, a slight increase in the original £97m agreed.

Mr Mccoll also highlights the government’ s budget problems and delays in other major projects such as the Aberdeen bypass and the well-documented fiasco of the new Edinburgh Sick Kids Hospital.

He sums up the SNP gov - er nm en t’ s record very well ...” everything they touch is a mess”. With advisers like this, who needs enemies?
