UK spying laws are ‘outdated’, reveals report
The UK’S “outdated” spying laws need to be reformed to protect the country from future data leaks and espionage, a new rep or t has recommended.
The Law Commission said the existing Official Secrets Acts were “no longer fit for purpose” due the advances in technology.
The admission follows the intelligence and security committee’ s report into Russian interference in the UK. At present, it is not an offence for a nonBritish national or public servant to engage in espionage against the UK while they are abroad.
