Kayewhykelly lands top prize at Hamilton Park

- By GLENDALE

Kayewhykelly was a gutsy winner of the feature race at Hamilton Park last night.

U np en al is ed for a recent romp at Hay dock, the 6-4 favourite, ridden by Jason Hart and trained by Julie Camacho, saw off Sienna Dream by half a length in the Flower Of Scotland EBF Fillies’ Handicap.

Doubling Dice careered away with the Hampton By Hilton Hamilton Park Novice Stakes for Newmarket trainer Hugo Palmer.

The long-distance raider scored by 15 lengths for jockey Clifford Lee, inset, who was also successful earlier with impressive juvenile winner Bickers taffe in the opening Whysettle It Networks Novice Stakes. Speaking about Bicker staff, Lee said :“I was very impressed by him. He’s been doing all the right things at home and we like him a lot. He’s handled the track and gone through the testing conditions pretty well.’

Immortal Beloved can be the darling of Lingfield in the Follow At The Races On Twitter Handicap today.

Charlie Fellowes’ filly needed every yard of Sandown’s mile and six furlongs to break her duck on her third racecourse star t and handicap debut. It therefore makes sense that she moves up to an extended two miles as she seeks to follow up.

The three-year-old is taking on a field full of much more experienced campaigners, but is clearly unexposed and can take advantage of the weight she receives from all but one of her elders.

Immortal Beloved improved dramatically from her first to second start, having been a distant sixth of eight on her Newmarket debut in early June but then beaten only a head in second at Haydo ck less than three weeks later.

Those two efforts were over a mile and a half – and after she had stayed on so well in the second, Fellowes moved her up two furlongs at Sandown. Victory there looked unlikely until she produced another telling late rattle, and this time reeled in an odds-on favourite by three-quarters of a length. That was a useful performance, and she should be ready togo again after a month’s break to recover.

Amtiyaz catches the eye in a field full of potential improvers for the Witheford Equine Barrier Trials At Lingfield Park Novice Stakes.

John Gosden’ s colt was runner-up on his sole racecourse appearance, over ten furlongs on the all-weather here in early August. He moves up in trip – by a furlong and a half – and on the evidence of his slow start and strong finish on debut, the new distance looks spot on.
