SPFL increases cup prize fund to £2.6m-plus
Clubs have been handed a financial boost in the form of increased B etfred Cup prize money and permission to live -stream group games.
The Scottish Prof essi on al Football League announced its prize money would increase by 17 p er cent to more than £2.6 million.
Clubs will receive a minimum of £20,000 and the winners will take home a record £300,000 prize.
The SPFL confirmed that clubs would be able to livestream first-round games on a pay-per-view basis as long as they are not being shown by Premier Sports.
The tournament starts on 6 October, three weeks after the indicative date for supporters to return to sports grounds, but it remains unclear how many fans will be allowed to attend matches should the go-ahead be given.
