Hundreds arrested at climate protest

More than 300 people have been arrested during a third day of climate change protests in central London.

T h e M e t r o p o l i t a n Police said more than 200 arrests were linked to a demonstrat­ion on Lambeth Bridge on Thursday afternoon, which saw the bridge closed to traffic.

Earlier in the day, some protesters gl ued t hemselves to the ground outside Parliament, while others staged a sit- in around the perimeter of the parliament­ary estate.

Some of the Extinction Rebellion supporters said they “jumped the barriers and ran past armed police to glue ( themselves) on to the floor outside the House of Lords”.

E x t i n c t i o n Re b e l l i o n wants the government to declare a climate and ecological emergency, and is undertakin­g ten days of planned action.
