- Crime · Incidents · Peterhead

Police have called off the search for a teacher who went missing while rock climbing in Aberdeenshire two weeks ago.

The family of Owain Bristow said they were “devastated” at their loss.

The 34- year-old was last seen climbing in the Bullers of Buchan area near Peterhead around 7:30pm on 21 August.

Despite searches by police and HM Coastguard, involving specialist officers from a police dive and marine unit, no trace of him was found.

Bristow said: “We are all devastated at the loss of Owain. He was a dearly loved and loving son, brother, uncle and partner.

“Owain’s enthusiasm for outdoor pursuits and passion for teaching were obvious to all who met him.
