Wind farm project hails approval of key building
T h e N e a r t n a G a o i t h e ( N n G ) O f f s h o r e W i n d project has taken a step forward with approval being granted for a key support facility.
Scottish Borders Council has green-lit plans jointly submitted by NNG Offshore Wind and Eyemouth Harbour Trust for an operations and maintenance (O&M) building in Eyemo u t h . T h e d e ve l o p m e n t is billed as a “significant milestone” for NNG, jointly owned by EDF Renewables and ESB. The planning permission is for a new, threestorey main building and a two-storey warehouse.
T h e O & M b u i l d i n g , designed by Corstorphine + Wright Architects, will house facilities required to support the servicing of NNG once the wind farm is operational.
The investment in Eyemouth is expected to bring an economic boost to the area providing up to 50 permanent jobs over the 25-year lifespan of the project.
